Acceptance to the Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention At The University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice On October 31, 2019

Just wanted share and have a journal record via this blog post that on October 31, 2020, I Rekitta Peters, Founder/Owner, Purple Vision was accepted for admission into the “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention” with the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice, the Ortner Center on Violence & Abuse, and the Center for Social Impact Strategy for January 2020. I had until November 2020 to either accepted or decline the offer of submission into the “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention” with my deadline to pay my total tuition by the end January of 2020. I would start this Executive Program in March 2020. I was accepted into this Executive Leadership Program because the University of Pennsylvania believe I offer a unique perspective to the diverse and talented group of leaders, innovators, and change makers. I had to DECLINE the offer to be accepted into the “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention” because of the scheduling to complete the program would require me to be away from my 15 year old son during type school year. As a single parent, you have to make the necessary sacrifices for your children. I know I made the right decision to decline the offer to be admitted into the “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention” and choose to stay at home with my 15 year old son during the school year. I pray daily for God to lead, guide, provide, bless and protect my 2 children and myself. God has always come through for my 2 children and as I single parent and survivors of domestic violence. As it God would have itbefore the 2020 “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention” at the University of Pennsylvania could commence, the Coronavirus Pandemic hit the United States in mid March 2020 and around the world and the United States Federal and State mandated “Stay At Home Order” went to effect to prevent the spread of the coronavirus which killed millions of people worldwide according to the Center of Disease Control (CDC). I say all this to say this to all victims and survivors of domestic violence pray for the perfect will of God for your family life and your children’s life then listen to the voice of God for direction via spirit of discernment and the Holy Spirit.

Although I was not able to accept the offer to participate in the University of Pennsylvania’s “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention” due family obligations as a single mother, I was very grateful, humbled and honored to be accepted into the University of Pennsylvania’s “Executive Program in Leadership Strategy for Violence & Abuse Prevention“ for 2 reason: 1. it was confirmation from God that one (1) of my purposes in life or callings in life is to be a servant leader and an advocate to help for victims and survivors of domestic violence and 2. it fulling the mission statement and vision statement of Purple Vision listed on my Purple Vision website http://purplevision.org to help, encourage, educate, and empower women who are victims and survivors of domestic violence to create a vision for a better life for themselves and their family and honor the memory of women who lost their life due to domestic violence.
